What are the hazards of Bartholinitis to women's health?

What are the hazards of Bartholin's glands to women? Experts from the Gynecology Hospital said: Common vulvitis in female patients includes two types: vulvar ulcers and Bartholin's glands. In my country, Bartholin's glands are mostly caused by common pyogenic bacteria. In foreign countries, it is mostly caused by gonococci. Because the Bartholin's glands are deep in the back 1/3 of the labia majora on both sides of women, and the gland opening is between the hymen and the labia minora. Due to the characteristics of its anatomical location, bacteria can easily invade and cause Bartholin's glands during sexual intercourse, childbirth or other vulvar infections.

Dangers of Bartholinitis:

1. Patients with Bartholinitis often experience local pain, redness and swelling, often with fever, and less often with chills. Sometimes urination and defecation are difficult.

2. If the Bartholin's gland abscess is not treated in time, it may occasionally spread posteriorly to form a perirectal abscess, and sometimes even rupture into the rectum.

3. After the Bartholin's gland abscess is incised and drained, most of the abscess cavities can be completely closed and healed, but fistulas may occasionally form, with a small amount of secretions continuously discharged. A small and hard nodule can be felt during palpation, with slight tenderness. Pus may sometimes flow out of the fistula when squeezed. Sometimes the fistula closes or narrows on its own, and pus may accumulate and form an abscess again. It may also recur and not heal for a long time.

4. After the acute phase of Bartholinitis, due to the obstruction of the glandular duct opening, the glandular secretion fluid cannot be discharged and is retained, forming a Bartholin's gland cyst.

What are the hazards of Bartholin's gland inflammation to women? Therefore, women should not underestimate the prevention and treatment of vulvar diseases, otherwise it will lead to serious consequences. Once symptoms are found, they should be treated in time.
