What symptoms can Bartholinitis cause?

Bartholinitis is an inflammation of the Bartholin glands, a common type of vulvar inflammation in women. The cause is mainly bacterial infection, often mixed infection. So what are the symptoms of Bartholinitis? Let me introduce them to you in detail, hoping to be helpful to you.

It is often manifested as swelling, pain, and burning sensation in the vulva. Sometimes the pain is so severe that it can even cause difficulty in urination, pain during urination, and difficulty walking. The vast majority of patients can be cured and will not relapse. A small number of patients have repeated relapses, which is extremely harmful to female friends.

Bartholinitis is more common on one side. When the disease occurs, the gland duct is first invaded, presenting with acute suppurative inflammatory changes, with local redness, swelling, heat and pain. That is, the vulva on the affected side is swollen, with a burning sensation and severe pain, and sometimes there is a feeling of heaviness and difficulty in urination and defecation.

The gland duct opening is often blocked due to swelling or coagulation of exudate, and pus cannot flow out to form an abscess, which is called Bartholin's gland abscess. If an abscess has formed, the mass may feel fluctuating and tender. If it is not treated in time, the pressure in the abscess cavity increases and it may rupture on its own.

After the pus flows out, the patient feels relieved; if the wound is small and the drainage is not smooth, it may recur, often making the patient restless when walking or lying down. Bartholinitis often has systemic symptoms such as swollen inguinal lymph nodes, increased body temperature and increased white blood cell count.
