Nowadays, many women suffer from Bartholinitis, which is a gynecological disease caused by bacterial infection of the Bartholin's glands. So what are the main symptoms of Bartholin's glands? This must be a question that everyone is very concerned about. Let me introduce it to you below. At first, redness, swelling, hard masses, pain, burning sensation, obvious tenderness, urination pain, difficulty walking, and sometimes urination and defecation difficulties are found in the 1/3 of the labia majora. Most of them are unilateral, and occasionally bilateral. After that, the skin on the surface of the mass becomes thinner, the surrounding tissues swell, there is a sense of fluctuation, and it develops into an abscess. The mass varies in size, mostly the size of an egg. It is often accompanied by enlarged inguinal lymph nodes. Severe cases may have systemic symptoms such as fever and headache. If not treated, the abscess may rupture on its own. After the pus flows out, the local pain is relieved, the congestion and edema are reduced, and the systemic symptoms disappear. When the pressure inside the abscess increases, the surface skin becomes thinner, and the abscess ruptures on its own. If the rupture is large, it can drain on its own, and the inflammation subsides quickly and heals. If the rupture is small, the pus cannot be completely drained, and the lesion may recur. Examination shows local skin redness, swelling, fever, and obvious tenderness. Sometimes systemic symptoms such as fever and increased white blood cell count may occur. If it is Neisseria gonorrhoeae infection, squeezing the local area may cause thin, light yellow pus to flow out. When an abscess is formed, the pain intensifies and a sense of fluctuation can be felt. In severe cases, the diameter of the abscess can reach 5 to 6 cm. The patient will have systemic symptoms such as fever, and the inguinal lymph nodes may enlarge to varying degrees. This disease usually occurs on one side. At the beginning, it is often manifested as swelling, pain, and burning sensation in the vulva. Sometimes the pain is very severe, and it may even cause difficulty in urination and defecation, painful urination, and difficulty walking. Examination of the vulva shows that the skin of the vulva on the affected side is red, swollen, hot, and tender. Sometimes white spots can be seen at the opening of the Bartholin's gland on the affected side. When an abscess is formed, the pain can be significantly aggravated. The diameter of the abscess can vary from 3 to 150px, or even larger, and a sense of fluctuation can be clearly felt locally. Sometimes it is accompanied by systemic symptoms such as fever, and the lymph nodes in the groin may swell to varying degrees. When the pressure inside the abscess increases, the surface skin becomes thinner, and sometimes the abscess can rupture on its own. If the rupture is large, the pus will flow out on its own, and the inflammation will often subside quickly and heal. If the rupture is small and the pus cannot drain smoothly, the inflammation will continue to persist, and even if the symptoms are alleviated, they may recur. |
