The Bartholin's glands are located in the deep 1/3 of the labia majora on both sides, and the gland duct opens between the hymen and the labia minora. Due to the characteristics of the anatomical location, when the vulva is contaminated by sexual intercourse, miscarriage, childbirth, etc., pathogens can easily invade and cause an inflammatory reaction, which is called Bartholin's gland inflammation. The following will introduce some self-examination methods for Bartholin's gland inflammation. Examination: The examination is not difficult based on the medical history and clinical manifestations. 1. Local swelling, pain, burning sensation, and difficulty walking. 2. Physical examination: local skin redness, swelling, fever, and tenderness are obvious; there is a sense of fluctuation when the abscess is formed; the abscess ruptures spontaneously and pus flows out. Severe cases may be accompanied by systemic symptoms, such as elevated white blood cells. 3. Auxiliary examination: secretions can be taken from the opening of the Bartholin's glands, the urethral orifice, and the paraurethral glands for smear and bacterial culture (including anaerobic culture) to check for pathogens, and drug sensitivity tests can be performed to guide treatment. |
