Treatment of severe cervical precancerous lesions

Treatment of severe cervical precancerous lesions

Cervical precancerous lesions refer to lesions that occur in the area before cancer occurs and thus cause cancer. So what are the treatments for cervical precancerous lesions? Cervical lesions are one of the most common diseases in women, and the most serious case is cervical cancer. So how can it be treated?

Among women's cancers, the incidence of cervical cancer ranks second only to breast cancer. In developed countries, its incidence has dropped significantly. This is largely due to the early treatment of cervical precancerous lesions. In developing countries, due to imperfect screening, the incidence of cervical disease is 6 times that of developed countries, increasing at a rate of about 2% per year, of which 8% of patients are diagnosed with invasive cancer. In recent years, there has been a clear upward trend in the number of cervical cancer patients. This can be explained by the increase in human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, and it can even be said that cervical cancer is an infectious disease in a sense.

The problem is that it takes a long time for cervical precancerous lesions to develop into cervical cancer. It takes about 10 years. Cervical cancer is a preventable and curable disease. The key is to conduct screening to prevent it before it happens, and to promptly detect early cervical cancer and take appropriate measures in time. Equally important as screening is health education for the population. Paying attention to sexual hygiene can not only reduce the risk of cervical cancer, but also reduce the risk of other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).

Cervical lesions are a general concept that has not yet been defined. It refers to various lesions that occur in the cervical area, including inflammation, trauma, tumors (precancerous lesions), deformities, and endometriosis.

The examination methods for cervical lesions include: gynecological inspection, palpation, cervical smear and microscopy, colposcopy, biopsy and pathological histological examination.

Treatment of cervical lesions: Based on the severity of the lesions, the patient's age, marital status, and follow-up conditions, medication, physical therapy (cryotherapy, electrocoagulation, laser, etc.), and surgical treatment (cervical conization, hysterectomy) can be used.

Cervical conization can be performed with an ordinary scalpel or a LEEP knife. The LEEP knife is also known as a high-frequency electric wave knife. It was first reported by the French in 1981 and has been developed in recent years. It is currently the most advanced means of treating cervical diseases in China and even in the world. This method uses low voltage, high current and a small circular electric knife (also known as a LEEP knife) to remove cervical lesions.

Compared with traditional electrosurgical surgery, LEEP knife has many advantages in treating cervical lesions: 1. It can achieve very delicate surgical effects that traditional electrosurgical surgery cannot achieve. 2. The phenomenon of tissue pulling and carbonization caused by traditional electrosurgical surgery rarely occurs, and the damage to surrounding tissues is small. 3. The pain is reduced, the chance of leaving scars is small, and there are fewer complications (bleeding and infection). 4. There is no danger of electric current passing through the body. 5. The electrode plate does not need to be coated with electrode paste, and there is no risk of burns. 6. The operation time is short, an average of 3-5 minutes, the operation is simple, painless, low cost, and only local anesthesia is used.

Indications of LEEP knife: cervical erosion, cervical condyloma, cervical precancerous lesions (CINⅠ, CINⅡ). Since our hospital introduced LEEP knife technology in the city in May 2005, it has relieved the pain of many patients with cervical lesions.
