New progress in the diagnosis of cervical precancerous lesions

New progress in the diagnosis of cervical precancerous lesions

Cervical precancerous lesions are a common disease among women, ranking second among female malignant tumors. The cause of the disease is still unclear. Although the incidence rate of the disease is very high and the harm is great, cervical precancerous lesions are actually curable. The key lies in the timeliness of diagnosis and treatment. So, what are the key points in the diagnosis of cervical precancerous lesions? The diagnosis of cervical precancerous lesions can be divided into two aspects: clinical manifestations and laboratory tests.

1. Clinical manifestations

(1) Early cervical precancerous lesions generally have no obvious symptoms. Bleeding after sexual contact or increased leucorrhea or blood streaks are often early symptoms of cervical precancerous lesions. Since there is usually no pain in the early stages, they are often easily ignored.

(2) In the late stage of the disease, it is common to have heavy vaginal discharge, yellow or green in color, and a foul odor. Irregular vaginal bleeding and pain in the lower abdomen or waist, which worsens as the disease progresses, are accompanied by symptoms of urinary tract infection such as frequent urination, urgency, and pain when urinating.

2. Laboratory examination

(1) Speculum examination shows that the cervix is erosive, ulcerative, or cauliflower-like, with hard, brittle tissue that bleeds easily.

(2) Cervical smear cytology is positive.

(3) Colposcopy and biopsy under the microscope can improve the diagnostic accuracy of vaginal cytology and biopsy.

(4) Cervical biopsy is the most reliable basis for diagnosing cervical precancerous lesions. Biopsy should be performed for further diagnosis when vaginal cytology or colposcopy is suspicious or positive; when clinical manifestations are suspicious of cervical precancerous lesions or other cervical diseases are difficult to distinguish from cervical precancerous lesions.

Warm reminder: Comprehensive treatment is to use existing treatment methods in a planned and reasonable manner according to the patient's body condition, tumor pathological type, invasion range and development trend to maximize the treatment rate and improve the quality of life. It is the best solution for treating cervical precancerous lesions at this stage and the basic principle for the treatment of most cervical precancerous lesions.
