How Bacterial Vaginosis is Diagnosed

How to diagnose candidal vaginitis? This is also a concern for everyone. The vagina is a female sexual organ. It is adjacent to the urethra and anus. If you do not pay attention to personal hygiene and sexual hygiene, it is easy to be invaded by bacteria and other pathogens and cause infection and inflammation. Candidal vaginitis is one of them. So how to diagnose candidal vaginitis?

The diagnosis of candidal vaginitis is as follows:

Typical vaginal candidal infection is in the form of tofu dregs or curds. During the examination, the labia minora and vaginal mucosa are congested to varying degrees, and the labia minora are edematous, depending on the severity of the disease. There is a lot of stickiness in the vagina or the vaginal mucosa is covered with a white film. After wiping off the white film, the exposed mucosa is red, swollen, eroded, or has superficial ulcers.

Vaginal itching caused by candidal vaginitis is generally more obvious than that caused by trichomonas vaginitis. Patients with severe itching may feel restless and unable to sleep or eat. Patients may also experience vaginal burning pain, especially when urinating. In severe cases, urinary pain, frequent urination, and sexual intercourse pain may also occur. Increased vaginal discharge is another major symptom of this disease. Leucorrhea is generally thick and sticky, and may be white or yellow, or thin.

How to diagnose candidal vaginitis? Go to the hospital for examination to confirm:

The commonly used method is the hanging drop method: place a drop of physiological saline or 10% potassium hydroxide solution on a glass slide, take a small amount of secretions and put it in the slide for direct examination under a microscope. If pseudohyphae and spores are found, it means that Candida is in a pathogenic state and can be diagnosed as candidal vaginitis. If the patient's symptoms are suspicious, but pseudohyphae are not found after multiple direct microscopic examinations, bacterial culture should be performed.

If the symptoms are typical, it is not difficult to make a diagnosis, but laboratory tests should be combined for confirmation. The commonly used diagnostic method is the hanging drop method: if pseudohyphae and spores are found, it means that Candida is in a pathogenic state at this time, and it can be diagnosed as candidal vaginitis.
