Is pelvic fluid in the uterus?

Uterine effusion is also called intrauterine effusion. Uterine effusion is not common in clinical practice. Patients of different ages may have different causes of uterine effusion. Are pelvic effusion and uterine effusion the same? Uterine effusion is the presence of inflammatory exudate in the pelvic cavity. It can occur after the inflammation of the endometrium. The slightly viscous fluid exudates from the swollen cells of the endometrial tissue and is gradually formed into a cystic mass when it is wrapped by the surrounding tissue.

Intrauterine effusion and pelvic effusion are two different concepts. First of all, the two locations are different. Intrauterine effusion is formed when endometritis is accompanied by cervical canal obstruction, so that the inflammatory secretions in the uterine cavity cannot flow out or the drainage is not smooth. Pelvic effusion is the fluid accumulated in the recto-uterine pit at the lowest point of the abdominal cavity. It can be divided into physiological and pathological. Physiological ones generally need treatment, while pathological ones are generally caused by pelvic inflammation.

Pathological gynecological pelvic effusion is mostly caused by pelvic inflammatory disease, adnexitis or endometriosis. For example:

1. The causes of pelvic inflammatory disease and adnexitis are mostly related to the patient's bad hygiene habits, such as having sexual intercourse during menstruation, within one month after childbirth, taking a bath within one month after gynecological surgery, etc.

2. Medical-induced infection caused by improper disinfection during artificial abortion and induced labor can also cause pelvic effusion.

3. If there are chronic infection lesions, it may be caused by inflammation of the gynecological system such as the ovaries and fallopian tubes in the pelvic cavity, causing pelvic effusion. It may also be caused by tuberculosis or tumors. In a few cases, it is caused by ectopic pregnancy rupture, corpus luteum rupture, pelvic abscess, chocolate cyst, and ovarian cancer.

Therefore, these two diseases are different and should not be confused.
