Is it normal to have cervical erosion?

Is it normal to live longer if you have cervical erosion? Cervical erosion is a type of chronic cervicitis. It only increases the risk of cervical cancer and does not directly endanger life. If it is not treated properly or delayed, it will cause many other diseases and even lead to infertility. Therefore, the harm of cervical erosion is still very large. The following is an introduction to the harm of cervical erosion. Women should receive timely treatment after suffering from cervical erosion.

The harm of cervical erosion is mainly manifested in the following aspects:

1. Cause infertility: When cervical erosion occurs, especially moderate or severe cervical erosion, cervical secretions will increase significantly, become viscous, and contain a large number of white blood cells, which will have an adverse effect on sperm motility, hinder sperm from entering the uterine cavity, and affect conception.

2. Leading to complications: When suffering from cervical erosion, it will cause inflammation of other organs, such as: the pathogens of cervical erosion can ascend to cause endometritis; it can spread through the parauterine ligaments and lymphatic vessels to cause chronic pelvic inflammatory disease; when the inflammation spreads to the bladder triangle, it can cause urinary system diseases and cause irritating symptoms such as urinary pain, frequent urination or difficulty urinating.

3. It can cause deeper lesions: Due to long-term stimulation of chronic inflammation, it can cause deeper diseases such as polyps, lacerations, eversions and cysts.

4. Increase the risk of cancer: Women with cervical erosion have a cervical cancer incidence rate that is nearly ten times higher than that of the general population. Under the stimulation of long-term chronic inflammation, atypical hyperplasia may occur in the columnar epithelium derived from the proliferation of the cervical canal. If it is not treated promptly and correctly, it will gradually develop into cervical precancerous lesions. Because cervical erosion is often accompanied by HPV infection, it is one of the suspicious signals of causing cervical cancer. This development process generally takes 5-10 years.

Knowing the harm of cervical erosion, we must pay more attention to it. Experts remind us that if cervical cancer is not treated in time, it may cause a series of complications, which is extremely harmful to women. Therefore, patients should go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment in time after experiencing symptoms related to cervical erosion to protect women's health.
