The main manifestations of menstrual irregularities in menopausal women

Menopause is the transitional period from fertility to infertility, which is generally between 40 and 60 years old. During menopause, women's ovaries gradually decline, endocrine disorders occur, and menstruation becomes irregular. The main characteristics are as follows:

1. Infrequent menstruation

Due to the decline of ovarian function, the menstrual cycle interval of menopausal women gradually lengthens from the normal 20 to 30 days to 2 to 3 months or longer. With the increase of age, the menstrual cycle becomes longer and longer, even 4 to 5 months or half a year, and intermittent amenorrhea may occur; the menstrual flow is less than before.

2. Menstrual cycle disorders

The normal menstrual cycle changes to irregular vaginal bleeding, sometimes the menstrual period is prolonged or becomes continuous vaginal bleeding, which lasts for 1 to 2 months; sometimes menopausal women suddenly have heavy vaginal bleeding, and even anemia, pale complexion, shortness of breath and fatigue. If this happens frequently, you should go to the hospital for examination immediately to rule out tumor bleeding; women over 40 years old should undergo a comprehensive examination or endometrial biopsy. After excluding tumors, treat menopausal menstrual disorders.

3. Sudden menopause

Regardless of whether the menstrual cycle is irregular or the menstrual flow is normal, menopausal women will have menstrual blood discharged continuously. However, some women have had normal menstrual cycles and periods in the past, but suddenly go through menopause. Some have normal cycles, but the menstrual flow gradually decreases after a few times, and then the menstruation suddenly stops. Some patients have been in menopause for a period of time, but suddenly have uterine bleeding.
