What are the common manifestations of uterine fibroids?

Uterine fibroids are the most common benign tumors of the female reproductive system, and are more common in middle-aged women. If uterine fibroids are not effectively treated for a long time, they may cause malignant transformation. Common manifestations mainly include the following aspects.

1. Increased leucorrhea

Increased vaginal discharge is a common symptom. Sometimes the vaginal discharge may be discharged along with a large amount of purulent and bloody mucus, and may also be accompanied by necrotic tissue, often with a foul odor.

2. Menstrual changes

This is the most common symptom of uterine fibroids, including shortened menstrual cycles, heavy or prolonged menstrual flow, irregular vaginal bleeding, etc. The reason is that uterine fibroids enlarge the uterus, increase the endometrial area accordingly or excessively thicken the endometrium, hindering uterine contraction. More obvious menstrual changes often occur in submucosal fibroids and intramural fibroids.

3. Abdominal pain

In the early stage of the disease, patients generally have no abdominal pain, and the main symptoms are lower abdominal distension, back pain, etc. As the fibroids grow larger, acute abdominal pain may occur when the subserosal fibroid pedicle twists, and fever symptoms may occur in severe cases.

4. Pelvic pressure

Rapid growth of fibroids can cause compression symptoms of pelvic organs. For example, compression of the bladder, urethra or rectum can cause frequent urination, dysuria, urinary retention or constipation. The growth of fibroids to both sides can form broad ligament fibroids, which can cause hydroureteral or renal pelvic hydrops when compressing the ureter. Compression of pelvic blood vessels and lymphatic vessels can cause lower limb edema.
