Different pathogens that cause pelvic inflammatory disease have different transmission routes and pathogenic characteristics. Understanding these characteristics can identify the pathogenic bacteria and thus help choose antibiotics during treatment. 1. Streptococcus There are many types of Gram-positive streptococci, with beta-hemolytic streptococci being the most pathogenic. They can produce hemolysin and a variety of enzymes, making the infection spread easily and causing sepsis. The pus is thin, light red, and large in quantity, but generally does not cause metastatic abscesses. This bacterium is sensitive to penicillin. 2. Staphylococci Gram-positive cocci Staphylococcus gram-positive cocci are common pathogens of postpartum and postoperative genital inflammation and wound infection. They often infect the vagina, uterus, and fallopian tube mucosa. They are divided into three types: epidermal, saprophytic, and Staphylococcus aureus. Epidermal Staphylococcus may occasionally cause disease, saprophytic Staphylococcus is usually not pathogenic, and Staphylococcus aureus has the strongest pathogenicity. Its pus is yellow, thick, and not smelly, and is often accompanied by metastatic abscesses. It is easy to develop resistance to commonly used antibiotics, and it is ideal to use drugs according to drug sensitivity tests. Commonly used effective drugs are oxacillin sodium, cloxacillin sodium, etc. 3. Escherichia coli Gram-negative Escherichia coli is a normal parasite in the intestines and vagina. It is generally not pathogenic, but when the body is extremely weak, it can cause serious infection and even produce endotoxins. It is often mixed with other pathogenic bacteria. The pus infected by Escherichia coli does not smell bad. When there is a mixed infection, thick pus and fecal odor are produced. Ampicillin and amoxicillin are effective, but they are easy to produce resistant strains. It is best to do a drug sensitivity test and choose sensitive drugs. |
