Treating vaginitis with TCM differentiation of symptoms

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that vaginitis is caused by the liver, spleen, and kidney, as well as wind, cold, dampness, and heat. The vagina is where the meridians are clustered, where the tendons gather, and the Chong, Ren, and three yin meridians of the foot all pass through it. The liver stores blood and governs the tendons; the kidney stores essence and governs the front and back yin. If it is caused by insufficient endowment, excessive sex and childbirth, and the loss of essence and blood, or in the age of 79, kidney yin is deficient, the heavenly essence is exhausted, the Chong and Ren meridians are weak, the yin blood is insufficient, and the yin cannot be nourished, or the yin is deficient and the fire is strong, which injures the yin and burns the collaterals. Traditional Chinese medicine divides vaginitis into the following types:

Damp heat bet

Symptoms: excessive vaginal discharge that is yellow, thick, and foul-smelling; redness, burning sensation, swelling, and pain in the vagina; dark urine and dry mouth; red tongue with a greasy, yellow coating; and a slippery and rapid pulse.

Treatment method: Clear away heat, promote dampness and stop leukorrhea.

Prescription: 15g each of Poria cocos, Poria cocos, Red Peony Root, Cortex Moutan, 10g each of Rhizoma Alismatis, Cortex Phellodendri, Fructus Gardeniae, Ginkgo, Semen Plantaginis, 6g of Raw Licorice. Chinese patent medicine: Longdan Xiegan Pills.

Wet and turbid bet

Symptoms: excessive vaginal discharge that is white, sticky, and has a fishy smell, as well as swelling and heaviness in the vagina, abdominal distension, poor appetite, loose stools, a pale tongue with a greasy white coating, and a weak pulse.

Treatment method: Strengthen the spleen, eliminate dampness and stop leukorrhea.

Prescription: 15g each of Codonopsis pilosula, Atractylodes macrocephala, Atractylodes macrocephala, Poria cocos, Chinese yam, raw coix seed, 10g each of dried tangerine peel and dried tangerine peel. Chinese patent medicine: Baidai pills.

Liver depression and spleen deficiency

Symptoms: excessive vaginal discharge with yellowish-white color, thick texture, or fishy smell, burning sensation and heaviness in the vagina, irritability and bitter taste in the mouth, fatigue, poor appetite and loose stools, red tongue with thin and greasy coating, and thready and stringy pulse.

Treatment method: Soothe the liver and clear away heat, strengthen the spleen and eliminate dampness.

Prescription: 15g each of moutan bark, white peony root, atractylodes, tuckahoe, raw coix seed, 10g each of bupleurum, gardenia, oriental water plantain, black mustard spike, and plantain seed, and 6g of raw licorice. Chinese patent medicine: Jiaweidaoyao pills.

Kidney deficiency type

Symptoms: The leucorrhea is cold, the amount is large, the texture is thin, and it drips all day long, the waist feels sore as if it is broken, the lower abdomen is cold and painful, the tongue coating is thin white, and the pulse is deep and slow.

Treatment method: Nourish yin and kidney, strengthen the body and consolidate the foundation.

Prescription: Grind herbs such as Manshanxiang, Yeliantou, Xiangcanye, Sophora flavescens, and Honeysuckle to fumigate the vagina. Chinese patent medicine: Vulvar fumigation: 15 grams each of Atractylodes lancea, raw coix seed, and Sophora flavescens, 10 grams of Phellodendron chinense, wrap in cloth and boil for 10 minutes, fumigate the vulva, twice a day.
