What are the examinations for patients with ovarian crown cysts?

Ovarian crown cysts are cysts located in the broad ligament near the fallopian tube or ovary. They are called ovarian crown cysts because the cysts of this type of cysts occur in the fallopian tube, around the ovary, between the two leaves of the broad ligament. Ovarian crown cysts are benign non-neoplastic cysts, but a small number of ovarian crown cysts can become cancerous.

The examination of ovarian crown cyst includes laboratory examination and other auxiliary examinations. Laboratory examination can be performed by B-type ultrasound examination, and other auxiliary examinations include laparoscopy, pneumoperitoneumography, etc.

Laboratory tests

B-type ultrasound examination: If images of the uterus and ovaries are seen in the patient's B-type ultrasound imaging, the masses next to them are mostly ovarian coronary cysts. This method is an indirect inference.

Other auxiliary examinations

Laparoscopic examination: After the patient's abdominal cavity is inflated, the intestinal flexure moves upward and the pelvic organs can be clearly exposed. If the cyst in the broad ligament is seen, and the ovary and fallopian tube are also seen, the diagnosis can be confirmed.

Pneumoperitoneography: After the patient's abdominal cavity is inflated, an X-ray is taken. If the shadows of the normal uterus and ovaries are seen in the film, the remaining mass shadows may be ovarian crown cysts. This method has the same disadvantages as B-type ultrasound examination, which cannot directly see the nature of the mass and cannot exclude cysts from fallopian tubes. If the cyst is large and has papillary protrusions into the lumen, a frozen section histological examination is required.
