Precautions after uterine fibroid surgery

Precautions after uterine fibroid surgery

Uterine fibroids are the most common benign tumors of the female genitalia. Treatment should be based on the patient's age, fertility requirements, symptoms, and the location, number, and size of the fibroids. Myomectomy is a method of removing uterine fibroids and preserving the uterus. Postoperative care includes the following:

1. General care

Observe the patient's blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and body temperature; pay attention to whether the wound dressing is dry, whether there is bleeding or exudation, whether there is vaginal bleeding or internal bleeding, etc.

2. Postoperative posture care

The patient should maintain a semi-recumbent position for 24 hours after surgery to relax the abdominal muscles and reduce the tension on the incision, thereby alleviating wound pain and promoting healing. The patient can delay getting out of bed and moving around after surgery to reduce the possibility of residual bleeding and internal bleeding at the surgical site. Appropriate exercise can be done in bed to promote intestinal peristalsis and increase appetite.

3. Pay attention to diet after surgery

A reasonable and proper diet can promote the healing of the incision and physical recovery of the patient. Depending on the different surgical methods, the eating time is also different. Generally, liquid food is eaten first, and then semi-liquid food. After gastrointestinal motility is restored, normal diet can be resumed. During the recovery period, attention should be paid to nutrition, and more foods containing high protein, high iron, and high vitamins should be consumed.

In addition to the above situations, patients should also keep the perineum clean, maintain smooth bowel movements, prevent postoperative complications such as infection, pay attention to psychological care, etc.
