Precautions before and after physical treatment of cervical erosion

Precautions before and after physical treatment of cervical erosion

Cervical erosion is not a disease, but a symptom of cervicitis. In foreign countries, patients with mild inflammation are generally not treated, but only undergo cytological screening and receive corresponding treatment based on the cytological results. Generally speaking, women with cervical erosion who have increased secretions, thick and odorous discharge, and contact bleeding need to receive corresponding treatment. Physical therapy is currently one of the most commonly used treatment methods in clinical practice, and it has a good effect. Although physical therapy has a certain effect, appropriate preparations must be made before treatment, and care must be taken after treatment to make the treatment smoother and consolidate the treatment effect.

Before physical therapy, patients should undergo routine cervical scraping and cytological examination; the treatment time should be within 3 to 7 days after the end of menstruation; patients should avoid treatment in the event of acute genital inflammation.

Since a large amount of watery vaginal discharge may occur after physical therapy, the vulva should be kept clean after treatment; bathing, sexual intercourse and vaginal douching should be avoided during the period when the wound is not completely healed (healing takes 4 to 8 weeks). At the same time, patients need regular checkups to help observe the healing of the wound and whether there is cervical stenosis, etc.

It should be noted that physical therapy has corresponding indications and is suitable for patients with large erosions and deep inflammatory infiltration. It takes 3 to 4 weeks for the wound to heal, and 6 to 8 weeks for deeper lesions. Commonly used methods include laser, freezing, electric ironing, microwaves, and infrared coagulation, etc. Patients can receive treatment under the guidance of professional doctors according to their own conditions.
