Contraindications and indications for curettage of artificial abortion

Artificial abortion refers to the termination of pregnancy by surgical method within 3 months of pregnancy, including vacuum aspiration and curettage. Before using curettage, the cervix needs to be prepared accordingly, such as using a rubber catheter to dilate the cervical canal; taking prostaglandin preparations orally, intramuscularly or vaginally 3 hours before the operation to dilate and soften the cervix, etc. Its indications and contraindications mainly include the following:

1. Indications

Those who want to terminate the pregnancy within 10 to 14 weeks of pregnancy without contraindications; or those who are not suitable to continue the pregnancy due to certain diseases (including genetic diseases); or those who have failed other abortion methods.

2. Contraindications

(1) Those with untreated or uncured genital inflammation such as vaginitis, cervicitis, and endometritis;

(2) Patients who cannot tolerate surgery due to systemic diseases such as heart failure, tuberculosis, severe anemia, or patients who cannot tolerate surgery in the acute phase of various diseases;

(3) Acidosis caused by severe vomiting during pregnancy is not corrected;
