Precautions for patients with uterine fibroids during pregnancy

Precautions for patients with uterine fibroids during pregnancy

The effects of uterine fibroids on pregnancy may include high miscarriage rate, malposition of the fetus (which may be caused by tumor compression and restricted fetal movement), high rate of dystocia, high rate of cesarean section (because fibroids are likely to block the birth canal and prevent the fetal head from descending smoothly), excessive postpartum bleeding (because fibroids affect uterine contraction), and high incidence of puerperal infection.

Therefore, patients with uterine fibroids should pay attention to the following matters when they are pregnant:

① After pregnancy, you must undergo regular pregnancy checkups as required by your doctor so that you can keep track of the growth of the fetus and fibroids and take timely measures.

② Strictly control sexual life to minimize the chances of miscarriage and infection.

③ Avoid moderate or above physical labor, and rest in bed if necessary.

④ Increase nutrition, especially eat more blood-enriching foods, such as blood tofu, animal liver, wolfberry and jujube porridge, sesame paste, shepherd's purse, spinach, etc., to prepare the body for possible bleeding.

⑤ Make good psychological adjustments and consciously improve your psychological endurance. Because the incidence of abnormal pregnancy such as uterine fibroids combined with pregnancy miscarriage is significantly higher than that of normal people. In addition, you must be mentally prepared to accept cesarean section. You must consciously temper your character during pregnancy, and cultivate an open mind and an optimistic attitude.
