Shaofu Zhuyu Decoction is effective in treating cold-damp stagnation type adnexitis

Traditional Chinese medicine divides adnexitis into many types, among which the cold-dampness stagnation type is more common in clinical practice. Its treatment mainly focuses on warming the yang and dispelling cold, promoting blood circulation and removing dampness. The commonly used Chinese medicine prescription is Shaofu Zhuyu Decoction.

The main Chinese medicinal materials included in the prescription are: Poria, Angelica, Red Peony Root, Myrrh, Artemisia argyi, Atractylodes macrocephala, Zedoariae, Red Caulis, Fennel, Chuanxiong, Cinnamon Twig, and Dry Ginger. If the patient has a large amount of leucorrhea and it is white and thin, nutmeg and ginkgo can be added to achieve the effect of warming the kidney and stopping leucorrhea; if the patient has obvious symptoms of waist pain, Chuanduan and Eucommia can be added to achieve the effect of strengthening the kidney and waist. In addition to oral administration, the remaining drug residue can also be put into a cloth bag and hot compressed on the lower abdomen for 20 to 30 minutes each time.

Yunling: Also known as Poria cocos, it has a sweet and mild taste and a neutral nature. It has the effects of promoting diuresis and eliminating dampness, benefiting the spleen and stomach, calming the mind and tranquilizing the nerves. It can also enhance the body's immune function and has obvious anti-tumor and liver protection effects.

Angelica: It tastes sweet and spicy, and is warm in nature. It has the effects of nourishing blood and activating blood circulation, regulating menstruation and relieving pain, and moistening the intestines and promoting bowel movements.

Red Peony Root: It tastes bitter and is slightly cold in nature. It has the effects of clearing heat and cooling blood, dispersing blood stasis and relieving pain.

Myrrh: It tastes bitter and spicy, and is neutral in nature. It has the effects of dispersing blood, removing blood stasis, reducing swelling and relieving pain.

Mugwort: It tastes bitter and spicy, and is warm in nature. It has the effects of dispelling cold and relieving pain, warming the meridians and stopping bleeding.

Cangbaizhu: It is the general name of Atractylodes and Atractylodes, which are often used in traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions. Atractylodes is bitter and pungent in taste and warm in nature, and has the effects of drying dampness and strengthening the spleen, dispelling wind and cold, improving eyesight and relieving pain; while Atractylodes is bitter and sweet in taste and warm in nature, and has the effects of replenishing qi and strengthening the spleen, drying dampness and promoting diuresis, stopping sweat and stabilizing pregnancy.
