What items should be checked during the follow-up examination for female cervicitis? 5 items must be checked during the follow-up examination for female cervicitis

If you have cervicitis, you need to receive timely treatment. After a period of treatment, you need to have a follow-up examination to see the effect of the treatment. The follow-up examination includes many contents, the most important of which are some gynecological examinations, such as routine examination of leucorrhea, cervical scraping, etc. After the examination, if the patient is completely cured, in daily life, you only need to strengthen prevention and conditioning. If the treatment effect is not good, further treatment is needed.

What to check for cervicitis

1. Carefully ask the patient for medical history

The amount and shape of vaginal discharge, its relationship with the menstrual cycle and normal times, whether there is bleeding after sexual intercourse or blood in the vaginal discharge, menstrual hygiene, delivery process, sexual partner status, whether there has been cervical surgery, abnormal urination, lumbar pain, etc., and what examinations have been done in the past? What are the results? What drugs or methods are used for treatment? How effective is it?

2. Gynecological examination:

Observe the vulva, vaginal vestibule, and urethral orifice for inflammation, then use a speculum to expose the vagina and cervix, and use a sterilized dry cotton swab to wipe off the leucorrhea on the surface of the cervix. You can then clearly see whether the cervix is smooth or has partial epithelial shedding.

Based on the above-mentioned grading and classification standards, doctors can easily make a diagnosis of chronic cervicitis, including its degree (mild, moderate, severe) and type (simple, granular, papillary). Doctors can also see whether the cervix is enlarged, whether it is a cervical polyp, ectropion, Nabothian cyst or endocervicitis, whether there are other suspected cervical diseases or whether there are any precancerous lesions or cervical cancer that may be the cause of cervical cancer. Finally, a gynecological internal examination can be performed.

3. Routine examination of leucorrhea:

Find out the pH value, cleanliness, the presence of Trichomonas, Candida (commonly known as mold by the general public, but medical staff cannot call it mold, otherwise the basic concept is unclear) or other pathogens, and the results of the amine test, etc.

4. Cervical Smear

Since chronic cervicitis is difficult to distinguish from cervical precancerous lesions and cervical cancer in appearance, cervical smears and endocervical aspiration or smear cytology examinations should be performed routinely.

5. If abnormalities are found in step 4, colposcopy and cervical biopsy should be performed

Chronic cervicitis should be treated only after cervical cancer has been ruled out. Otherwise, if cervical cancer is mistaken for chronic cervicitis, there have been many painful experiences of misdiagnosis and mistreatment.

For Nabothian cysts deep in the cervix or suspected polyps or submucosal myomas in the endocervical canal, transvaginal B-ultrasound should be performed to assist in diagnosis and differentiation.

We must pay attention to the methods of rechecking cervicitis, because the harm caused by cervicitis is very serious. If we want to completely avoid the occurrence of unnecessary harm, we must correctly understand the disease, especially the methods of rechecking cervicitis, so as to avoid unnecessary risks caused by the disease and achieve early recovery of patients.
