Causes of abnormal leucorrhea with a strong odor

Abnormal vaginal discharge accompanied by an odor may be a sign of inflammatory infection and requires prompt medical attention to determine the cause.

Normal vaginal discharge should be colorless or milky white, viscous or slightly thin, and have no obvious odor. If the vaginal discharge changes in color, texture, or odor, such as turning yellow, green, or dregs, and has an odor, it usually indicates an abnormal state of the body, which may be related to an imbalance of vaginal flora or infection.

Common causes of strong odor in vaginal discharge include bacterial vaginosis, candida infection or trichomoniasis. Most of these problems are related to decreased immunity, poor personal hygiene habits, frequent use of vaginal washes, unreasonable sexual habits, etc. For example, bacterial vaginosis is often accompanied by a fishy smell, while candida infection can cause vaginal discharge to become like tofu dregs, accompanied by varying degrees of itching; trichomoniasis may cause vaginal discharge to become foamy and yellow-green, which are all signals that need attention.

Regular cleaning but not excessive washing, avoiding the use of irritating care products, and wearing breathable, sweat-absorbent cotton underwear can help maintain a healthy vaginal environment. If you find that the problem has not been improved through self-adjustment, or the symptoms have worsened, you need to go to the hospital's gynecology department for examination as soon as possible, find the specific cause of the disease, and then treat it symptomatically.
