The explosive cream experience is reproduced again! Six years ago, the hairy crabs from mainland China were found to contain banned carcinogenic drugs by the Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. Now, they are finally imported into Taiwan after a six-year absence and are ready to conquer the stomachs of gourmets. There are more than 6,000 kilograms of hairy crabs from Taihu Lake in mainland China. Although the price is 50% higher than before, taking a hairy crab weighing about 15 grams as an example, the price is about NT$650. However, it is still cheaper than the hairy crabs from Taiwan, which cost more than NT$800 each, and is quite competitive in the market.

Taihu hairy crabs are fat, have meaty claws, and taste extremely fresh. The reason why they are the most powerful hairy crabs is that their birthplace, Taihu Lake, is one of the five largest freshwater lakes in China and a national key scenic spot with an area of ​​2,338 square kilometers. The water is clear and clean, so the hairy crabs grown here are whiter and easier to identify. They crawl around vigorously every day, so the crab roe is thick and the meat is tender.

Compared to farmed crabs in Taiwan, there are relatively few crab roe and crab paste, so five-star hotel operators and hypermarkets are planning to start selling Taihu hairy crabs in mid-October, and gourmets are already eager to try them.

Tips for choosing hairy crabs:

1. The shell should be green: the crab back is slightly green, and the back of a cooked crab is bright red.

2. The belly should be white: that is, the crab belly is white, this white is natural white, a bit ivory.

3. The claws should be golden: the tips of the crab claws should be golden like tobacco.

4. The hair should be yellow: that is, the fluff on the crab claws (pincers). The whiskers on the crab claws are golden yellow, and the fluff on the crab claws (pincers) is dense and soft.

5. The body should be strong: the two-clawed octopus should be fleshy, strong and powerful.
