Some unmarried women may wonder if they have cervical erosion when they have excessive vaginal discharge. Because about 15% to 20% of unmarried women may suffer from congenital cervical erosion. The occurrence of congenital cervical erosion is due to the influence of maternal estrogen in newborns, which causes the junction of cervical squamous and columnar epithelium to move outward. If this cervical change persists, it can be called congenital cervical erosion. It looks like cervical erosion, but in fact there is no obvious cervical inflammation. Congenital cervical erosion can heal itself due to squamous metaplasia, or it can cause cervical inflammation due to secondary infection.
