Treatment of malignant ovarian cysts

Treatment of malignant ovarian cysts

Due to the lack of obvious early symptoms, the treatment of ovarian cysts is often started only after they develop into malignant tumors. Since the cancer cells have developed to a certain extent, ordinary treatment methods are no longer effective. The treatment of this type of ovarian cyst should pay attention to the following aspects.

Most patients are in the late stage when they seek medical treatment, so every effort should be made to remove the primary cyst and any visible pelvic and abdominal metastases. Since malignant ovarian cysts are often adhered or infiltrated with the uterus and adnexa, and are integrated and closely attached to the pelvic peritoneum, the uterus and tumor are often removed in one piece, such as by rolling carpet or wrapping dumplings, such as omentectomy, partial intestinal resection, partial bladder and ureter resection. For the treatment of malignant ovarian cysts with ascites, whether or not they are completely removed, it is advisable to place a catheter in the abdominal cavity to facilitate the postoperative intraperitoneal injection of anticancer drugs or radioactive colloidal gold or colloidal phosphorus.

Treatment methods for ovarian cysts that cannot be removed: ① After each ascites drainage, medication can be given through the catheter, but it should be noted that ascites contains a large amount of protein, and a large amount of drainage should be supplemented with nutrition in time. ② For the patient's greatest pain, general analgesics can be used first. If any analgesics are ineffective, alcohol can be tried to be injected into the spinal cord membrane cavity. ③ If the patient's general condition is good, a colon abdominal wall, ostomy or ureteral transplantation can be performed to relieve the patient's excretion disorder and the resulting water and electricity imbalance, acidosis, etc.

It is difficult to completely treat malignant ovarian cysts. Of course, it also depends on the actual situation of the patient. You need to consult with the doctor in detail. You can also consult our online experts here about the treatment methods of ovarian cysts.
