Three common methods of detecting ectopic pregnancy

Ectopic pregnancy means that the fertilized egg does not enter the uterus in the normal way, but settles somewhere else, which is extremely harmful to women's health. What are the common methods for checking ectopic pregnancy ? Here are some common methods for checking ectopic pregnancy.

In general, the common methods of checking for ectopic pregnancy are:

1. Ultrasound diagnosis

Ultrasound is used to detect the gestational sac and fetal heart rate. If the pregnancy is outside the uterus, it can be diagnosed as an ectopic pregnancy. If the gestational sac is located inside the uterus, ectopic pregnancy can be ruled out. This is the most common method for detecting ectopic pregnancy.

2. Pregnancy Test

Since the hCG level in patients with ectopic pregnancy is generally lower than that in normal pregnancy, the positive rate of general hCG measurement methods is low. Therefore, the examination of ectopic pregnancy must use the more sensitive &beta-hCG radioimmunoassay or monoclonal antibody enzyme-labeled method for detection.

3. Posterior fornix puncture

It is also one of the common methods for checking ectopic pregnancy. Since the blood in the female abdominal cavity is most likely to accumulate at the lowest point, that is, the rectouterine pouch, even if the amount of bleeding is not much, it can be sucked out through the posterior fornix puncture. Generally, an 18-gauge long needle is used to pierce the rectouterine pouch from the posterior fornix of the vagina. If dark red, non-coagulated blood is drawn out, it is positive, indicating that there is blood accumulation in the abdominal cavity.

The above is an introduction to the common methods of checking ectopic pregnancy. I hope it will be helpful to everyone. Once you have an ectopic pregnancy, you must go to the hospital for treatment in time to avoid serious delays in the condition.
