Brief analysis of the common typical symptoms of atrophic vulvar leukoplakia

As a common type of vulvar leukoplakia, atrophic vulvar leukoplakia is very harmful to women's health and has some typical symptoms. What are the typical symptoms of atrophic vulvar leukoplakia ? Here are some common typical symptoms of atrophic vulvar leukoplakia.

In general, the common symptoms of atrophic vulvar leukoplakia are:

Stage I: The main symptoms are not obvious. Some patients with atrophic vulvar leukoplakia have mild itching, no white lesions appear, and the vulva has atrophy that is not easily detected by the naked eye.

Stage II: The symptoms of typical atrophic vulvar leukoplakia are mild atrophy of the vulva, usually starting from the labia majora, minora, and clitoris. The elasticity of the labia majora and minora is reduced, and the surface wrinkles are reduced or absent. Vulvar pruritus is relatively mild. Due to atrophy, there may be dryness of the vulva and discomfort during sexual intercourse. The vulvar skin is partially depigmented, in multiple spots or flakes.

Stage III: At this stage, the symptoms of atrophic vulvar leukoplakia are severe. The labia majora of the vulva are flat, the labia minora disappear, and the clitoris shrinks or becomes adherent. The urethral opening shrinks. In severe cases, patients with atrophic vulvar leukoplakia suffer from urinary incontinence, vaginal opening shrinkage, and difficulty in sexual life. Some patients also have anal leukoplakia and atrophy, causing the skin around the anus to have no wrinkles and reduced elasticity, causing anal fissures during defecation. At this time, about 50% of patients with atrophic vulvar leukoplakia have large areas of hypopigmentation on the vulvar skin.
