What are the symptoms of atrophic vulvar leukoplakia?

Vulvar leukoplakia is also a type of gynecological disease in women. Most people may not have come into contact with it, so they don’t know much about it. Today I will tell you about some symptoms of atrophic vulvar leukoplakia, hoping to help you understand this type of vulvar leukoplakia.

1. The symptoms of stage 1 atrophic vulvar leukoplakia are not obvious. Some patients with vulvar leukoplakia have mild itching, no white lesions appear, and the vulva has atrophy that is not easily detected by the naked eye.

The symptoms of stage 2 atrophic vulvar leukoplakia are more obvious. The vulva has mild visible atrophy, usually starting from the labia majora, minora, and clitoris. The elasticity of the labia majora and minora is reduced, and the surface wrinkles are reduced or absent. The vulvar itching is relatively mild. Due to atrophy, there may be dryness of the vulva and discomfort during sexual intercourse. Patients with vulvar leukoplakia have local hypopigmentation of the vulvar skin, which is multiple or flaky.

The symptoms of stage 3 atrophic vulvar leukoplakia are more serious. In vulvar leukoplakia, the labia majora of the vulva are flat, the labia minora disappear, and the clitoris shrinks and becomes smaller or adheres. The urethral opening atrophies, and in severe cases, urinary incontinence occurs. The vaginal opening atrophies, and sexual life becomes difficult. Some patients with vulvar leukoplakia may also have anal involvement, causing the skin around the anus to have no wrinkles and reduced elasticity, which may cause anal fissures during defecation. About 50% of patients with vulvar leukoplakia have large areas of hypopigmentation on the vulvar skin.

The above are the specific descriptions of the symptoms of atrophic vulvar leukoplakia. I believe everyone has some knowledge of this type of vulvar leukoplakia. If you have the above symptoms, you should go to the hospital in time to check and confirm whether you have vulvar leukoplakia.
