Can a 15-year-old adolescent girl get a Bartholin's gland cyst?

Bartholin's gland cyst may occur in adolescent girls aged 15 years old. Treatments include medication, surgery and daily care. The disease is mainly related to Bartholin's gland duct obstruction, infection and changes in hormone levels.

1. The occurrence of Bartholin's gland cysts is closely related to the fluctuation of hormone levels during puberty. The increase of estrogen levels in adolescent girls may lead to increased secretions of the Bartholin's glands. If the duct is blocked, the secretions cannot be discharged normally, and cysts will form. Infection is also a common cause. Bacteria or pathogens invade the glands, causing inflammation and duct blockage.

2. Drug treatment is the main way of early intervention. Antibiotics such as amoxicillin and cephalosporins can control infection; anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen can relieve pain and swelling; topical antibiotic ointments such as erythromycin ointment can help relieve symptoms.

3. Surgical treatment is suitable for cases where the cyst is large or recurrent. Ostomy drains secretions by cutting open the cyst; cystectomy completely removes the cystic tissue; laser treatment uses laser to ablate the cyst, which is less invasive.

4. Daily care is essential for prevention and recovery. Keep the vulva clean and use mild cleaning products; wear loose and breathable cotton underwear to avoid friction; avoid using irritating lotions or soaps to reduce stimulation to the glands.

Bartholin's gland cysts are not uncommon in adolescent girls. Timely medication, surgery and daily care can effectively control the condition and prevent recurrence. If symptoms such as swelling, pain and discomfort of the vulva occur, you should seek medical attention as soon as possible to get a clear diagnosis and receive professional treatment.
