What does cervical hypertrophy mean?

Cervical hypertrophy is usually caused by chronic inflammation, changes in hormone levels, or cervical gland cysts. It is generally not a serious disease, but you need to be alert to potential problems. Treatment includes medication, physical therapy, and lifestyle adjustments.

1. Chronic inflammation is a common cause of cervical hypertrophy. Long-term uncured cervicitis or vaginitis can cause repeated stimulation of cervical tissue, which in turn leads to hyperplasia. For inflammation, antibiotics such as metronidazole, clindamycin, or anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen can be used. At the same time, keeping the vulva clean and avoiding the use of irritating washes can help reduce the recurrence of inflammation.

2. Changes in hormone levels may also lead to cervical hypertrophy. During pregnancy or when taking birth control pills, the level of estrogen in the body increases, which may stimulate the proliferation of cervical tissue. In this case, no special treatment is usually required, but regular gynecological examinations are required to monitor cervical changes. If the symptoms are obvious, the use of hormone drugs can be adjusted under the guidance of a doctor.

3. Cervical gland cysts are another common cause of cervical hypertrophy. The secretions of cervical glands are blocked, forming cysts, which cause the cervix to increase in size. Treatments include physical therapy such as laser, freezing or electrocautery, and surgical removal of cysts. After surgery, you need to rest, avoid strenuous exercise, and have regular checkups.

4. Lifestyle adjustments can help alleviate the symptoms of cervical hypertrophy. It is recommended to maintain a regular schedule and avoid staying up late; eat more foods rich in vitamins C and E, such as citrus fruits and nuts, to enhance immunity; and do appropriate aerobic exercises such as walking and yoga to promote blood circulation and improve pelvic health.

Although cervical hypertrophy is mostly benign, targeted treatment is required according to the specific cause. Regular gynecological examinations are key, and timely detection and treatment of potential problems will help maintain women's reproductive health. If accompanied by abnormal bleeding, pain and other symptoms, you should seek medical attention in time to rule out the possibility of other serious diseases.
