Vulva sometimes itches and leucorrhea is abnormal

Vulvar itching with abnormal leucorrhea may be caused by vaginitis, vulvar skin diseases or changes in hormone levels, and should be treated according to the specific cause.

Vulvar itching and abnormal vaginal discharge are common health problems for women and may be related to a variety of factors. Vaginitis is one of the most common causes, including bacterial vaginitis, candidal vaginitis, and trichomoniasis. Bacterial vaginitis is usually manifested by increased vaginal discharge, grayish white color, and fishy odor; candidal vaginitis is manifested by tofu-like vaginal discharge and obvious vulvar itching; trichomoniasis is characterized by yellow-green, foamy vaginal discharge with an odor. Vulvar skin diseases such as eczema, psoriasis, or contact dermatitis may also cause itching and abnormal discharge. Changes in hormone levels, such as during menopause or pregnancy, may also cause vulvar dryness, itching, and increased vaginal discharge.

Treatment methods vary for different causes. For bacterial vaginitis, commonly used drugs include metronidazole suppositories or clindamycin ointment; for candidal vaginitis, clotrimazole suppositories or oral fluconazole can be used; for Trichomonas vaginitis, metronidazole or tinidazole is required for treatment. Vulvar skin diseases require the selection of drugs according to the specific type, such as hydrocortisone ointment for eczema and vitamin D3 derivative ointment for psoriasis. Problems caused by changes in hormone levels can be relieved by topical use of estrogen ointment or moisturizer. In daily care, it is recommended to wear cotton underwear, avoid using irritating lotions, and keep the vulva clean and dry. In the diet, you can increase foods rich in probiotics, such as yogurt and fermented foods, to help maintain the balance of vaginal flora. If symptoms persist or worsen, you should seek medical attention in time to avoid delaying treatment.
