What causes cervicitis and how to treat it

Cervicitis is often caused by infection or irritation. Treatment requires targeted treatment based on the cause, and timely medical treatment is the key.

Cervicitis is a common gynecological disease in women, with symptoms such as abnormal vaginal discharge, lower abdominal pain, or pain during sexual intercourse. Specific causes include bacterial and viral infections, especially untreated vaginitis, repeated abortions, or long-term use of unclean hygiene products. Aggressive cleaning methods such as frequent vaginal douching may also disrupt the normal vaginal environment and increase the risk of inflammation.

Acute cervicitis usually requires antibiotic treatment. Doctors will choose appropriate drugs based on the type of infection, such as special anti-infective drugs for mycoplasma and chlamydia. Chronic cervicitis is mostly caused by long-term inflammation that is not properly treated. It may require more in-depth intervention, such as physical therapy (laser, freezing, etc.) or local drug treatment. Daily conditioning, such as keeping personal clean and avoiding excessive fatigue, can help the condition recover faster.

You should focus on prevention, develop good hygiene habits, avoid abusing sanitary pads or detergents, and adjust your lifestyle and diet to maintain immunity. If symptoms have already appeared, consult a gynecologist in time to get a clear diagnosis and treatment plan, and do not delay the condition.
