What to do if the menstrual flow is very heavy after abortion

After an abortion, women will not only suffer physical harm, but may also experience irregular menstruation. In most cases, irregular menstruation may occur 1 to 2 months after an abortion, manifested as scanty or heavy menstruation, and then slowly recover. If the phenomenon of heavy menstruation persists, it is necessary to consider that it may be caused by some adverse factors. So what I want to introduce today is what to do if the menstrual flow is particularly heavy after an abortion?

1. Pay attention to observation: The first menstruation after abortion surgery, because the endocrine environment in the body has not been fully restored and the estrogen level is low, the endometrium will not be completely shed. In this case, the menstrual volume will increase and the menstrual cycle will be prolonged, and even incomplete menstruation will occur. If there is only one or two excessive menstruation, special treatment is generally not required. By the third month, the menstrual cycle will slowly return to normal. You can pay attention to your physical condition. If the menstrual volume is still higher than the normal menstrual volume after two or three menstrual cycles, you need to go to the hospital for examination and treatment in time.

2. Medical treatment: If the menstrual volume is still large three months after the operation, you need to go to the hospital for B-ultrasound examination to determine whether there is any residual in the uterine cavity. If there is no residual in the uterine cavity, it is recommended to promote uterine contraction by intramuscular injection of oxytocin, and then take oral hemostatic drugs under the guidance of a doctor to prevent anemia caused by excessive bleeding. If B-ultrasound shows residual in the uterine cavity, it is necessary to perform a curettage to remove the uterine residue, and oral drugs are required after the operation to promote the discharge of the residue, such as Motherwort Granules, Xinshenghua Granules, etc.

In fact, there are many reasons for heavy menstrual flow after miscarriage. It may be a normal physiological phenomenon, or it may be poor uterine contraction or residual uterine cavity. We need to take appropriate measures to deal with it according to our actual situation. If the menstrual flow after miscarriage is heavy and accompanied by odor, we should consider the possibility of uterine cavity infection. At this time, we must go to the hospital for anti-infection treatment in time.
