Menstrual pain is equivalent to opening the fingers

Many female friends are familiar with menstrual pain, especially the pain that makes people unable to straighten their backs, which is simply maddening. So, how painful is menstrual pain? There is a saying that menstrual pain is equivalent to the pain of opening a few fingers during childbirth. This may sound a bit exaggerated, but in fact, the comparison between menstrual pain and childbirth pain is not completely accurate, because the pain mechanism and experience of the two are different.

From a medical point of view, menstrual pain is mainly caused by uterine contractions, which are to expel the endometrium and menstrual blood. The pain during childbirth is the result of uterine contractions plus cervical dilation. Dilation refers to the degree of cervical dilation. Generally speaking, dilation to ten fingers means that childbirth is possible. Menstrual pain and dilation pain are not on the same dimension, so it is not appropriate to make a direct comparison.

However, menstrual pain can be severe, and some women even have difficulty in their daily lives and work because of it. The degree of menstrual pain varies from person to person, and some may only experience mild discomfort, while others may need to take painkillers to relieve it. This difference is mainly related to factors such as the individual's pain threshold, the health of the uterus, and lifestyle.

For women who are troubled by dysmenorrhea, in addition to relying on drugs, there are also some ways in life that can help relieve pain. For example, keep warm, especially the warmth of the abdomen, which can be achieved through a hot water bottle or a heat pad; proper exercise, such as yoga and walking, can help promote blood circulation; eating more foods rich in magnesium and vitamin B can also help relieve dysmenorrhea.

Although dysmenorrhea is common, if the pain is severe enough to affect daily life or is accompanied by other abnormal symptoms, it is recommended to seek medical attention in time to rule out possible pathological causes. After all, health is the foundation of our lives, and we cannot ignore any distress signals from the body. I hope every woman can stay comfortable during menstruation and spend every special day easily.
