"Cell Systems" recently published the latest publication from Stanford University in the United States. The research team stated that even a small amount of weight gain may affect various conditions in the body.

In the study, the authors recruited 13 subjects with insulin resistance and 10 subjects with normal insulin sensitivity, a total of 23 subjects for the experiment, and asked them to eat snacks and snacks in addition to three meals, providing the subjects with additional calories: about 1,000 calories per day for men and about 750 calories per day for women, for 30 days. The experimental results showed that after one month, the average weight of the subjects increased by 6 pounds, equivalent to 2.73 kilograms, and the intestinal bacteria related to insulin resistance increased in the subjects' bodies; in addition, the expression of genes related to increased risk of dilated cardiomyopathy also increased.
