1 bowl of shaved ice = 500 calories. Nutritionists teach you how to eat without gaining weight!

In the hot summer, there is nothing more enjoyable than eating a bowl of icy cold shaved ice to cool down. However, the ingredients and sugar water contained in shaved ice not only have a calorie content of up to 500 calories, but also excessive sugar intake, both of which are enemies of weight. How should we eat ice to achieve the goal of less sugar and less fat?

Shaved ice ingredients contain hidden calorie mines

Nutritionist Chen Yuying from the Nutritional Therapy Department of Tong Hospital said that if you don’t want to gain weight by eating ice cream in summer, you should stick to the principle of less sugar, less fat and high fiber to avoid gaining weight. Many ingredients in shaved ice contain hidden calorie mines, so you must be careful. You can choose more low-calorie foods such as grass jelly and aiyu, use fresh fruits instead of fruit syrup (mostly made with a large amount of syrup, pigments and other chemical additives) or canned fruit, and use low-fat milk instead of condensed milk to reduce calories and sugar to a minimum.

As for the sugar water part, it is recommended to use sugar substitute water, such as dissolving the sugar substitute in water first, and then pouring the sugar substitute water on ice, or using zero-calorie cola or soda. It not only has low calories and unique taste, but is also suitable for diabetic patients.

Be careful about the sugar content of fruits when using shaved ice

Nutritionist Chen Yuying pointed out that the daily fruit intake for adults is two servings (each serving is the size of a girl's fist). Usually one serving includes 23 cherry tomatoes, 2 small or medium-sized wax apples, 1.5 kiwis, and 1/3 Thai guava, which has about 60 calories. While one and a half slices of mango, eight lychees, half a long banana, one slice of pineapple or one slice of watermelon, although the calories are also about 60 calories, the sugar content is relatively high, so it is not recommended for people with high blood sugar to consume or eat too much.

Nutritionist Chen Yuying called on people to reduce their starch intake with meals if shaved ice contains ingredients such as red beans, mung beans, tapioca pearls or rice flour. Peanuts and avocados are fats, so one should be more careful about the amount they intake.

Although eating shaved ice is a way to cool off in the summer, it should be consumed in moderation. Don't forget to exercise more and drink plenty of water after eating it. This is the way to stay healthy.
