After the Chinese New Year, digestive obesity has become a golden period for weight loss

From the Lunar New Year to after the Lantern Festival, many people gained weight due to a series of activities and holidays, which led to the post-New Year weight loss trend. Doctors at the weight loss clinic said that during the nearly one month before and after the Chinese New Year, many people may gain an average of about 2 kilograms due to changes in their diet and daily routine, with indigestion being the most common type of obesity.

Obese people with indigestion type can be found in all age groups. The main reason is constipation, which causes food gruel to stay in the intestines for too long, increasing nutrient absorption, causing lower abdominal bulge and making it impossible to lose weight. The physical characteristics are frequent bowel movements and a particularly protruding lower abdomen. The incidence of indigestion-type obesity in women is higher than that in men, mainly because of their lack of physical activity and prone to emotional tension.

Generally, the food chyme formed after normal people digest their food will stay in the intestines for about 6 hours before being excreted from the body as feces. As long as the food chyme stays in the intestines, the stomach and intestines will continue to absorb nutrients. The longer the food remains in the body, the higher the nutrient absorption rate. For patients with constipation, food chyme stays in the intestines for too long, and the intestinal absorption rate becomes about 2 to 3 times that of ordinary people. If a large amount of nutrients are not consumed after absorption, they will quickly be converted into fat and stored, causing obesity.

Weight loss physician Wen Qingyan said that during the New Year holidays, many people have the bad eating habit of eating too much food at one time, which easily produces a large amount of food mush, causing intestinal blockage and constipation. It is recommended to eat small meals frequently and chew food slowly, especially for those who have undergone abdominal surgery or have intestinal adhesion symptoms. Special attention should be paid to diet.

Dr. Wen Qingyan proposed the following weight loss points for obese people with indigestion:

1. Drink enough water: Outpatient observations found that constipation patients generally have insufficient daily water and dietary fiber intake. It is recommended that they drink 2000 to 3000cc of water every day, which can be divided into 1000cc each in the morning, noon and evening. Drink more soup during meals to replenish sufficient water.

2. Relieve stress: Stress can inhibit intestinal motility and lead to constipation. Some people are too nervous when traveling abroad or facing major exams, and often do not go to the toilet for two or three days. It is recommended that such people learn stress relief techniques, relax, and stay in a good mood to stay away from constipation.

3. Lower body exercise: Most constipation patients lack exercise, so it is recommended to do more lower body exercises. Thigh activities can stimulate intestinal peristalsis, and the intestinal ligaments are connected to the pelvic cavity. Moderate pelvic cavity activities can promote intestinal peristalsis. Many people will pass gas when they walk. Passing gas means that the intestines are moving. It is obvious that lower body exercise can indeed help improve constipation and also consume excess calories.

4. High-fiber diet: You should eat more green vegetables with high fiber content such as sweet potato, asparagus, royal vegetable, etc., which are low in calories and can promote intestinal peristalsis. As for fruits, whole grains or whole wheat, although they are high in dietary fiber, fruits are high in sugar. The latter are starchy foods and have a lot of calories, so it is better to eat them in moderation and in a balanced manner.

5. Regular work and rest: A regular work and rest can maintain the good functioning of the human body. Patients with constipation can try to go to the toilet at a fixed time every day. Even if they do not feel like defecation, it is okay to sit on the toilet for a while to allow the body to gradually get used to regular bowel movements. As for the time of defecation, some people choose to do it after getting up, some people choose to do it when they are relaxing after get off work. As long as the time is fixed, it is fine.

Pharmacist Zou Yiyu reminds that acute indigestion and constipation symptoms can now be relieved by using laxatives or laxatives, but long-term use may cause a decrease in the natural motility of the gastrointestinal tract. It is recommended that after the acute symptoms of constipation are relieved, you must adjust your diet and lifestyle to promote natural intestinal peristalsis and reduce the chance of recurrence in the future, so as to avoid becoming a "big belly man" or "big belly woman" due to constipation.
