Eating breakfast within 1 hour of waking up can protect your heart and reduce cravings

Breakfast is like a switch for the body's power. Only after eating breakfast can the body function smoothly and coordinately, increase calorie consumption throughout the day, and even help improve immune function. A research report recently published in the United States pointed out that developing the habit of eating breakfast within one hour of waking up can help prevent heart disease in the future and reduce the desire to eat snacks. It can be said to be healthy and help with weight loss.

Develop a breakfast habit to prevent heart disease

According to TIME magazine, a report published by the Harvard School of Public Health in the American Heart Association's journal Circulation tracked the eating habits and overall health of more than 26,000 adults aged 45 to 82 for 16 years, during which a total of 1,500 cases of serious heart disease occurred.

After assessing the patients' and other people's eating habits and excluding variables such as smoking and exercise frequency, they found that people who often skipped breakfast had about a 27% higher risk of developing heart disease. Skipping breakfast will also cause the stomach to remain fasting for too long, which will lead to eating more for lunch and being less selective in the food you eat, resulting in a much higher intake of sugar, fat, etc., which will become a risk factor for diabetes and obesity in the future.

Stabilize blood sugar levels and reduce cravings

Eating a full breakfast can make up for the low blood sugar level when you just wake up, help activate blood circulation, refresh the mind, and stabilize blood sugar levels in the body. Researcher Dr. Leah Cahill recommends that it is best to eat breakfast within one hour of waking up. Eating foods with a low glycemic index, such as whole-wheat toast and oatmeal cereals, can prolong the feeling of fullness. Never choose foods such as sweet cinnamon rolls or muffins.

Usually, when the human body is fasting for too long, it tends to consume high-sugar, high-calorie foods to replenish the calories needed by the body, which in turn causes obesity. When blood sugar levels are stable, the brain will not send out the signal that "sugar is needed", thus reducing the desire to eat snacks, and the body will not absorb excess calories and fat.
