Is it not easy to gain weight by eating sweets during menstruation? (Down)

Excessive body fat can cause menstrual disorders

In the ovaries of women of childbearing age, a follicle will appear every twenty-eight days or so. The follicle will gradually grow, mature, and then rupture, releasing an egg (i.e. ovulation). If the egg is not fertilized in the fallopian tube or the fertilized egg does not implant in the uterus, menstruation will occur as the endometrium is shed.

The ovulation function of the ovaries is quite sensitive. Especially when staying up late, under stress, or with too much body fat, these will interfere with ovulation and make the menstrual period come and go. It is also possible to have infertility problems due to non-ovulation.

Being too fat or too thin will affect the regularity of menstruation. This is closely related to body fat. Adipose tissue can not only store excess calories, but is also the largest endocrine organ in the human body, which can secrete female hormones and release inflammatory substances.

If body fat is too high or too low, female hormones will be unstable, which will cause endocrine disorders, leading to abnormal ovulation and irregular menstruation. When there are too many inflammatory substances, it may lead to chronic inflammation in the body, produce insulin resistance, and trigger three high diseases such as high blood sugar, high blood pressure, and abnormal blood lipids.

For example: In Taiwan, there are many white-collar women with irregular menstruation. They do not look particularly fat and their appetite is very small. However, during physical examinations, they are found to have high liver function and abnormal blood lipids caused by fatty liver.

Further examination often reveals that their daily basal metabolic rate is much lower than the 1,200 calories of ordinary women, and may be only around 900 to 1,000 calories. Their body fat can be as high as 30 to 40%, reaching the obesity standard of body fat above 30%, which affects their normal ovulation function.

This is often related to not exercising at all, preferring overly refined foods, and being accustomed to "eating less" to control weight, which results in more fat and less muscle in the body, and a lower and lower basal metabolic rate.

Another is polycystic ovary syndrome, which is often associated with female obesity and long-term anovulation (Editor's note: the interval between menstruation is more than 45 days, or the number of menstruation per year is less than six times). It is also often accompanied by the problem of excessive male hormones. Patients will have symptoms of acne, hirsutism, oily skin, and even baldness. Ultrasound examination will reveal the presence of multiple small cystic, immature follicles on the ovaries. Hence, it is called polycystic ovary.

When you find that you have irregular menstruation, whether you adjust your menstruation by supplementing female hormones or taking ovulation drugs, it can only make your menstruation regular, but it cannot completely improve your endocrine condition. It has no effect on problems such as excessive or low body fat and polycystic ovary syndrome. Of course, it is impossible to lose weight.

Get enough sleep and exercise more to stimulate leptin

Trying to improve obesity problems by taking menstrual regulating drugs is like looking for fish in a tree, it is only treating the symptoms but not the root cause. It is recommended to start by getting enough sleep and exercising more. When you get enough sleep, it stimulates the normal secretion of leptin and growth hormone, helps suppress appetite, maintain body weight, and is also very important for the normal functioning of the ovaries.

You should do at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise every week, such as riding a flywheel, jogging, brisk walking, and aerobic dancing, until you are slightly out of breath and sweating. At the same time, you can combine it with weight training to increase muscle training. If you can continue exercising regularly for two months, you should see a decrease in body fat, an increase in muscle mass, and more regular periods.

【3 secrets to avoid gaining weight during menstruation】

Excessive body fat that causes irregular menstruation, red marks for fatty liver on health checks, and ugly butterfly sleeves on the arms are all the results of an unhealthy lifestyle. Instead of taking menstrual regulating drugs to induce menstruation, it is better to make three major adjustments in your life.

TIP1. Moderate-intensity aerobic exercise can be achieved by riding a flywheel, at least 150 minutes a week.

TIP2. Do 10 arm weight training exercises with dumbbells 3 times a day to build muscle and improve your figure.

TIP3. Get enough sleep, don't stay up late, adjust your life stress, reduce interference with ovarian function, and ensure normal ovulation.
