Is it not easy to gain weight by eating sweets during menstruation? (superior)

(Compiled by Huang Xiumei)

Every summer is the peak season for women to lose weight, but women with premenstrual syndrome tend to eat a lot of sweets and gain weight. Many women therefore believe that menstrual disorders are the main cause of obesity.

Before your menstrual period, you often can’t resist the urge to eat sweets and eat a lot of chocolate, cakes, and ice cream. After eating, even if you feel good for a while, you often can’t hold on for long and feel tired and have a headache again? In fact, this is a common premenstrual syndrome that occurs frequently in women of childbearing age.

In medical literature, premenstrual syndrome occurs three to ten days before menstruation and can have more than 200 related symptoms. Craving for sweets is just one of them. Anxiety is also very common. The pathological cause of premenstrual syndrome has not yet been found. It may be caused by changes in the concentration of female hormones during the female ovulation cycle. Some symptoms are related to other endocrine disorders, such as insulin resistance in the blood (Editor's note: decreased insulin sensitivity and poor function can easily lead to unstable blood sugar), abnormal secretion of serotonin or prostaglandins in the brain, and other factors.

Don't ever think that you won't gain weight if you eat sweets or chocolate during your period, or that your metabolism is particularly good during your period and it's the best time to lose weight. These are all beautiful misunderstandings and are often related to physiological edema before menstruation.

This physiological edema does not mean there is something wrong with the kidney function, but the exact cause is still unknown. It may be due to an increase in adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), changes in female hormones, or increased vascular permeability, which leads to water accumulation in the body.

Women with this physical condition may find that their face, fingers, and body are swollen than usual when they wake up in the morning before their period. However, the condition will improve slightly after they move around for a while. If they weigh themselves, they may find that they weigh one or two kilograms more than usual. After menstruation comes, I quickly lose one or two kilograms. This is just a change in water content in the body and has nothing to do with the increase or decrease of fat or muscle.

This week, Dr. Hui-cheng Chou, Chief Strategy Officer of the Director's Office and Chief Physician of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Taian Hospital, who specializes in women's weight loss, will share the key to regulating menstruation and helping women avoid obesity.

Eat more whole grains to keep blood sugar stable

The refined sugar in sweets can quickly increase the blood sugar concentration in the body and bring a short-term sense of pleasure, but when the blood sugar concentration drops rapidly, it will make people restless and uneasy, and want to eat more sweets to replenish the sugar. It is a vicious cycle of sweet and sweet.

Of course, these extra calories will still cause weight gain if they are not consumed. It is recommended that women who have a big appetite and are fond of sweets before menstruation can switch to eating whole grains, vegetables and non-sweet fruits (such as vegetable strips and sliced guava) that require sufficient chewing and are low in sugar before menstruation, which can better maintain stable blood sugar levels and prevent them from getting out of control.
