Can hypnosis help you lose weight? American woman loses 40 kg in 7 months

Losing weight by eating less and exercising more is not a new topic. Now there is a method in the UK that claims to use hypnosis to help people lose weight successfully. It sounds doubtful, but Janice Rodgers, a 46-year-old British woman, successfully used hypnosis therapy to get rid of 40 kilograms of fat in 7 months.

According to the British Mirror News, Rogers has gained weight to 111 kilograms since giving birth to her son 23 years ago. Although she also wants to lose weight, she has always failed. She had attended weight loss classes in the past and participated in "Zumba dance" classes with friends, but she either gained weight too quickly or gave up halfway because she was physically unable to cope, making it difficult for her to lose weight successfully.

Later, she turned to the Internet to search for weight loss methods such as gastric interposition surgery to control food intake, and accidentally discovered the "virtual gastric mind band" therapy, a weight loss method in which a psychotherapist hypnotizes obese people to reduce their food intake. Without telling her relatives and friends, Rogers spent 270 pounds (NT$12,500) to participate in the treatment. After the first class, she miraculously stopped liking high-calorie junk food, and even said that those foods tasted like chewing carpet.

After one week of hypnosis therapy, Rogers successfully lost 5.4 kilograms, and after 7 months he successfully lost 40 kilograms. Psychotherapist Andrew Nelson said that his hypnosis weight loss method is aimed at adjusting people's cognitive behavior, neuro-linguistic programming and psychological state. The first class starts with imagining what you will look like when you have successfully lost weight and have a healthy eating pattern, gradually adjusting the psychology of obese people.
