Magnesium is one of the essential minerals for the human body, but surveys show that Taiwanese people generally do not consume enough magnesium. Many studies at home and abroad have also shown that magnesium deficiency may cause high blood pressure, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis and other diseases. In addition to nuts and green vegetables, magnesium can also be obtained from deep ocean water. Deep-sea minerals are considered the "last source of nutrition" and come from 600 meters below the sea. In addition to rich magnesium ions, they also contain many trace elements that are beneficial to the body. There are quite a lot of research on magnesium both at home and abroad. In addition to improving chronic diseases such as cardiovascular, liver, and osteoporosis, there are even studies on the effects of weight loss, nerve calming, and stress relief. It can be seen that magnesium has quite a lot of functions. Professor Chen Fuzhou, director of the Stem Cell Center of Taichung Veterans General Hospital, explained the relevance of "magnesium" to human health and said that, as defined by the National Institutes of Health of the United States, magnesium can help muscle and nerve function, heart rhythm, immune system, bones, blood sugar and blood pressure control, exercise metabolism, etc. 30~70% of the magnesium in food will be absorbed by the human body. 60% of the absorbed magnesium is stored in the bones, 40% in the cells, and 1% is regulated in the blood. About 100 mg of magnesium is excreted through urine or sweat every day. Of course, the amount excreted depends on the intake. Many advanced countries in the world have clear regulations on the standard intake of magnesium for the human body, but the proportion that can usually be achieved is very low. For example, according to the national standard in the United States, people after the age of 15 must consume at least 300 to 400 mg of magnesium per day, and pregnant and breastfeeding women should increase that by 50 to 100 mg. The United Kingdom stipulates that men must consume at least 300 mg per day, and women 270 mg. Taiwan stipulates that men must consume 360 mg per day, and women 310 mg. But in fact, 68% of people in the United States do not meet the standards, and even half of the people do not meet 3/4 of the standards; 50% of men and 72% of women in the United Kingdom do not meet the standards; Academia Sinica conducted a study from 2005 to 2008 and found that 70% of people in Taiwan did not meet the intake standards. In the past, magnesium and other mineral trace elements could be easily obtained from the diet, but as the soil became barren due to over-cultivation and crops grew faster due to large amounts of chemical fertilizers, the nutrients contained in food became less and less. According to an agricultural report from New Jersey, in 1914, one apple could provide the human body with 28.9 mg of magnesium, but by 1992, it took 6 apples to get the same amount of nutrition. Deep ocean water contains balanced and rich magnesium and other mineral trace elements, which is the most suitable source of nutrition for the human body.
