Fake! Tourist area "Little Bee" sells inferior fruits

Recently, "little bees" can be seen riding motorcycles and carrying grafted pears to sell in tourist areas. Some unscrupulous businesses are even selling inferior fruits to tourists as high-end fruits from Taichung. In response to this, Taichung Mayor Hu Chih-chiang instructed relevant units to strengthen crackdowns to ensure the quality of the fruit. Consumer protection officers also went to the Shigang District Farmers’ Association to conduct crackdowns and spot checks.

Taichung Mayor Hu Chih-chiang mentioned at a municipal meeting today, the 13th, that the quality of Taichung's fruits is getting better and better and is becoming more and more popular among the public. However, in tourist attractions such as the Shigang Lover's Wooden Bridge, Dongfeng Iron Horse Trail, and Guguan, there are unscrupulous vendors selling inferior fruits and fake Lishan grafted pears, drawing abuse from the public.

Hu Zhiqiang said that even though the Agriculture Bureau has taken precautionary measures by posting anti-counterfeiting labels or related signs on fruits, in order to ensure the quality image of Taichung fruits, the Agriculture Bureau, police station, consumer protection officers and other relevant units will be required to pay close attention to the movements of these "little bee" vendors and intensify crackdowns.

Cai Jingqiang, director of the Taichung Municipal Government's Agriculture Bureau, said that the "GAP" safe fruit and vegetable label currently being promoted is the result of agricultural products undergoing layers of testing and review by relevant government agencies. It is the highest credibility guarantee for the safety, hygiene, cleanliness and health of agricultural products, and protects consumers' food safety.
