Clenbuterol is not allowed in the forest. Yun County fights against American beef to the end

Following the joint statement issued by the heads of six counties and cities in Kaohsiung a few days ago, firmly opposing the lifting of the ban on ractopamine in American beef and proposing "three actions and four requirements" to safeguard the health of the people, the Lin County Government again invited livestock and catering industries in the county on the 20th to jointly sign a statement of "refusing to use (sell) meat products containing ractopamine" to comprehensively prevent meat products containing ractopamine from entering Lin and guard the last line of defense for the health of the people.

On the 20th, representatives of many catering, food sales, and food manufacturing industries in Lin County signed a joint statement "Refuse to Use (Sell) Meat Products Containing Clenbuterol" at the first-floor plaza of the Health Bureau together with Health Bureau Director Wu Zhaojun, Agriculture Director Lu Zhengzhang, and Lin County Meat Market General Manager Huang Caifu. They formed an independent management alliance, emphasizing that they will never use or sell meat products containing clenbuterol to safeguard the health of the people.

Health Bureau Director Wu Zhaojun said that Taiwan announced a ban on the use of clenbuterol in 2006 and insisted on zero detection of clenbuterol. On the other hand, only four countries in the world, namely the United States, Canada, Indonesia and Mexico, allow the addition of ractopamine to domestic cattle feed. Now that the central government has lifted the ban on clenbuterol, it is putting the health of the people at unknown risk. The health of the people cannot be compromised or traded. The county government still insists on zero detection of clenbuterol to safeguard the health of the people.

Director of the Department of Agriculture Lu Zhengzhang pointed out that the county government has implemented the "clenbuterol" residue inspection, insisted on "zero detection", implemented "self-management", and encouraged businesses to establish the "Self-Management Alliance for Meat Products that Refuse to Use Clenbuterol" and a certification mechanism, actively labeled the source of meat products, promoted "safe consumption", and handled the "Environmental Miles, Local Food" certification. Continue to promote the production history system so that consumers can buy with peace of mind.

Lin County Swine Farming Association Chairman Kang Fuhu pointed out that the false "report" by a few legislators about pork containing clenbuterol has caused panic among domestic consumers and led to a collapse in domestic pork prices. Pig farmers have to lose a lot of money every time they sell a pig, and farmers are in dire straits. He hopes that the central government will launch a similar 95 mechanism model to take care of the majority of pig farmers. He does not rule out filing a civil lawsuit for damages for the legislators' erroneous "report."

Businesses participating in the self-management alliance must provide certificates of compliance for the meat they produce and sell. After being certified by the county government, they will be issued a certification mark and posted. The products of the self-management alliance will not be regularly sampled. If any non-compliance is found, the certification mark will be immediately revoked and penalties will be imposed in accordance with relevant provisions of the Food Sanitation Management Act.

Currently, the domestic Food Sanitation Management Act still prohibits the use of clenbuterol in all meat products. The county government will impose a fine of 6 to 6 million yuan on businesses that sell products containing clenbuterol, and calls on businesses to implement self-management.
