What causes cervicitis?

What causes cervicitis?

There are many causes of cervicitis, the most common of which is infection, including infection with pathogens such as Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Chlamydia trachomatis, Mycoplasma genitalium, Trichomonas, as well as bacterial vaginosis, vulvovaginal candidiasis, etc. Mechanical stimulation or injury, chemical stimulation, foreign bodies in the vagina, etc. are also factors that cause cervicitis.

There are many causes of cervicitis, mainly including the following aspects:

1. Pathogen infection: The most common ones are sexually transmitted pathogens such as Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Chlamydia trachomatis, as well as Mycoplasma genitalium, Trichomonas, bacterial vaginosis, etc. These pathogens may infect the cervix through sexual intercourse, childbirth, surgery, etc., causing inflammation.

2. Mechanical stimulation or damage: such as spontaneous abortion, induced abortion, diagnostic curettage, vaginal delivery, hysterosalpingography, hysterosalpingography, hysteroscopy, etc., may cause mechanical stimulation or damage to the cervix, making it easy for pathogens to invade and cause cervical inflammation.

3. Personal lifestyle factors: Bad hygiene habits such as not paying attention to private area cleanliness, sexual intercourse during menstruation, using unclean menstrual pads, and low immunity may also increase the incidence of cervicitis.

4. Other factors: Contraceptive methods such as the use of condoms and intrauterine devices may also irritate or damage the cervix and cause inflammation.

There are many causes of cervicitis. The key to preventing cervicitis is to pay attention to personal hygiene and sexual hygiene, conduct regular gynecological examinations, and promptly detect and treat cervical infections and other abnormalities. At the same time, maintaining good living habits and enhancing immunity can also help prevent the occurrence of cervicitis.
