What are the symptoms of hydatidiform mole during pregnancy

Molar pregnancy is a rare pregnancy complication. Due to abnormal proliferation of placental trophoblastic cells and interstitial edema, blisters of different sizes are formed. The blisters are connected to the grapes, commonly known as "hydatidiform mole". Common symptoms of molar pregnancy include vaginal bleeding after menopause, abnormal enlargement and softening of the uterus, vomiting, abdominal pain, and theca lutein cysts.

1. Postmenopausal vaginal bleeding:

Vaginal bleeding after menopause is a common symptom of hydatidiform mole. Generally, irregular vaginal bleeding begins 8 to 12 weeks after menopause, and the amount is uncertain. If a large blood vessel ruptures, it can cause heavy bleeding and shock, and even be life-threatening.

2. Abnormal enlargement and softening of the uterus:

Due to the rapid growth of hydatidiform mole, blood accumulates in the uterine cavity, causing the uterus to become larger than that of menopause, become soft in texture, and have an abnormally high level of human chorionic gonadotropin.

3. Vomiting:

After becoming pregnant with a hydatidiform mole, the level of human chorionic gonadotropin secreted by the gestational trophoblast is particularly high. Therefore, under the influence and stimulation of high levels of human chorionic gonadotropin, severe nausea and vomiting symptoms will occur.

4. Abdominal pain:

Because the molar pregnancy grows rapidly, the rapid expansion of the uterus will involve the various ligaments of the uterus, causing lower abdominal pain. Over time, the uterus will contract and try to expel the uterine tissue, so paroxysmal abdominal pain will occur. If the ovarian lutein cyst torsions, acute abdominal pain and persistent pain in the lower abdomen will occur.

5. Theca lutein cyst:

Due to the stimulation of a large amount of human chorionic gonadotropin to the ovarian follicle lining cells, cysts are formed, which are called theca lutein cysts.

Molar pregnancy is more harmful to the mother. When vaginal bleeding is heavy and abdominal pain is unbearable, emergency medical treatment is needed to avoid delaying the condition.
