What are the symptoms of infection after abortion? What should I do if I get infected after abortion?

It is not uncommon for infection to occur after abortion. However, the bad thing is that many female friends will blindly choose active treatment methods for this situation, which will lead to the postoperative infection becoming more and more severe and eventually worsening of the condition. So how do we understand the infection after abortion?

What are the symptoms of infection after abortion?

1. Bleeding symptoms: This indicates infection. Generally, there will be bleeding symptoms during abortion. This is because after the placenta is detached during painless abortion, there may be a small amount of bleeding on the wound left on the uterine wall. In this case, as the uterus contracts and the wound is repaired, vaginal bleeding will generally stop gradually in 3-5 days, and no more than 10-15 days at most. However, if it exceeds 15 days and the amount of bleeding exceeds the amount of menstruation, it is abnormal and you should go to the hospital to find out the cause in time.

2. Brown discharge: Brown discharge may occur after abortion and it may also be a case of infection: Generally, there will be brown discharge after a painless abortion. This is because the surface of the uterus is traumatized and the wound slowly heals. The membrane that falls off the wound is brown. This process usually takes about three days. If it exceeds three days, it will be an infection.

3. There will also be mild abdominal pain: There may be mild lower abdominal discomfort, pain or a small amount of vaginal bleeding on the day after the painless abortion. If the abdominal pain is severe or the vaginal bleeding is heavy or lasts for a long time, the bleeding will not stop.

4. Others: There will also be lower abdominal pain, backache, continuous vaginal bleeding, fever and other symptoms. Some women will have such symptoms after abortion and they don’t know why they have such symptoms. This may be postoperative infection.

What to do if you get infected after abortion

1. Once it is confirmed that the infection is caused by the abortion operation, anti-infection treatment must be carried out immediately and the woman must go to the hospital for a follow-up examination in time to prevent the inflammation from spreading to the pelvic cavity and causing deep tissue infection, which may lead to infertility.

2. Regular check-ups are required after painless abortion. Female friends should go to the hospital for relevant B-ultrasound examinations about 7-10 days after the abortion. The main purpose is to see whether there is any incomplete abortion, whether there is any postoperative infection, and the recovery of the endometrium.

3. If you experience severe abdominal pain after abortion, excessive bleeding, or other abnormal conditions, you should go for a check-up in time.

4. Abortion is a remedial measure after contraceptive failure. Because the body's resistance will decrease after the operation and the body needs some time to recover, regular check-ups are required after the operation.

5. Be sure to eat more foods rich in vitamins and high-quality protein, so that we can improve our own resistance and physical fitness. It can prevent infection. We must also pay attention to rest after the abortion surgery and not be too tired.
