What tests should be done for cervicitis

Cervicitis is one of the common gynecological diseases, which can be divided into two types: acute and chronic. Acute cervicitis is mainly manifested by redness and swelling of the cervix and edema of the cervical mucosa, often accompanied by acute vaginitis or acute endometritis. Chronic cervicitis has a variety of manifestations, such as erosive changes, cervical columnar epithelial ectopia, cervical hypertrophy, cervical polyps, cervical glandular cysts and cervical eversion.

Tests for cervicitis include:

1. Medical consultation: The doctor will ask the patient about symptoms, such as increased vaginal discharge, mucopurulent discharge, contact bleeding, etc.

2. Laboratory examination: Perform secretion smear and observe the number of neutrophils and white blood cells, which will help identify the infecting pathogen.

3. Hysteroscopic examination: Use hysteroscopy to observe the inflammation of the cervical mucosa and surrounding tissues, and whether there is purulent secretion.

4. Cervical cytology examination: such as cervical scraping and endocervical canal aspiration examination, can be used to differentiate cervical epithelial neoplasia or early cervical cancer.

5. Colposcopy and biopsy: Colposcopy can directly observe the condition of the cervix. If necessary, biopsy can be taken for pathological examination to determine whether there is any cancer.

For the treatment of cervicitis, antibiotics are generally used, and private hygiene is also important. For acute cervicitis, adequate antibiotics are usually used for standardized treatment. For chronic cervicitis, treatment methods include physical therapy such as microwave ablation, high-intensity focused ultrasound, and surgical treatments such as myomectomy and cervical myomectomy. Eliminating the cause is the key. At the same time, if symptoms such as increased leucorrhea, purulent, dyspareunia, and post-coital bleeding occur, you should be alert and go to the hospital for examination and treatment in time.
