How to treat a 3 cm cyst on the left ovary

How to treat a 3 cm cyst on the left ovary

Women of all ages can suffer from left ovarian cysts, but it is most common in women aged 20-50. Ovarian tumors are common tumors of the female reproductive organs, with various properties and forms, among which cysts are the most common and have a high degree of malignant transformation. So how should I treat a 3 cm left ovarian cyst?

If the ovarian cyst is larger than 5 cm, it is considered large and has a greater chance of torsion. If the left ovarian cyst is 3 cm in size, and less than 5 cm is considered a small cyst, it can generally be followed up if torsion does not occur. Generally, cysts larger than 5 cm can be treated surgically, and those smaller than 5 cm can be treated conservatively. If the cyst is infected or compresses the nerves, it is easy to cause pain symptoms and surgery can also be considered. Ovarian tumors are mostly benign. If surgery is necessary, you can choose ovarian cyst removal, which has no effect on ovarian function and fertility.

The treatment of ovarian cysts depends on factors such as the patient's age, whether the symptoms are malignant, the location, volume, size, growth rate of the cyst, deformation of the uterine appendages, whether the reproductive function is retained, and the patient's subjective wishes.

Before treating the left ovarian cyst, you must first determine whether it is benign or malignant. Surgery is the only way to treat ovarian cysts. If it is determined to be benign and the cyst is very small, you can observe it first without treatment. You can follow up closely, that is, check it once every 2-3 months, and then adjust the check interval according to the situation; if the cyst diameter is greater than 5 cm, it is mostly an ovarian tumor, which generally requires surgical treatment.
