Can pelvic inflammatory disease cause amenorrhea?

Pelvic inflammatory disease is a common gynecological inflammation, which can be confined to one or several parts. So can pelvic inflammatory disease cause amenorrhea? Generally speaking, pelvic inflammatory disease is very harmful to women, but it does not cause menstrual changes. Amenorrhea can be caused by many reasons, and targeted treatment and conditioning should be actively sought.

Pelvic inflammatory disease is divided into acute pelvic inflammatory disease and chronic pelvic inflammatory disease. Acute pelvic inflammatory disease is often caused by untimely treatment of chronic pelvic inflammatory disease. The main cause of the disease is physical weakness after childbirth or abortion, the cervix has not closed well or bleeding for a long time, and tissue residue. It can also be caused by not paying attention to hygiene during menstruation, using unclean menstrual pads or having sex during menstruation.

The clinical manifestations of pelvic inflammatory disease are as follows:

1. Scar adhesion and pelvic congestion caused by chronic inflammation can cause lower abdominal swelling, pain and lumbar pain, which often worsens during fatigue, sexual intercourse and before and after menstruation.

2. The systemic symptoms are not obvious, and sometimes there will be low fever and fatigue. For patients with a long course of illness, some patients may experience symptoms of neurasthenia, such as mental depression, general discomfort, insomnia, etc. When the patient's resistance is poor, acute or subacute attacks are prone to occur.

3. Due to pelvic congestion, the patient may have increased menstruation; when ovarian function is impaired, there may be menstrual disorders; adhesion and blockage of the fallopian tubes can lead to infertility.

Generally speaking, although pelvic inflammatory disease does not cause amenorrhea, its harm to women is immeasurable. Once diagnosed, active treatment measures should be taken.
