Why does a molar pregnancy occur?

Why does a molar pregnancy occur?

Molar pregnancy usually occurs due to nutritional factors, racial factors, lack of fertilized eggs, endocrine disorders, infectious factors, etc.

Hydatidiform mole refers to the proliferation of trophoblastic cells in the placenta and high edema of the interstitium, which forms blisters of different sizes. The blisters are connected into a string to form grapes, also known as vesicular fetal masses. Hydatidiform mole is divided into complete hydatidiform mole and partial hydatidiform mole. The specific reasons are as follows:

1. Nutritional factors:

It is generally believed that it is closely related to nutritional factors, because the serum of pregnant women with trophoblastic tumors contains very low folic acid activity, and the embryonic blood vessels lack folic acid when they are formed, which affects the synthesis of thymine, leading to embryonic death, and then greatly increases the harm of hydatidiform mole.

2. Racial factors:

It is generally believed that the occurrence of hydatidiform mole is closely related to race, and the incidence rate also varies to a certain extent.

3. Lack of fertilized eggs:

The occurrence of hydatidiform mole may be related to abnormal development of the egg itself.

4. Endocrine disorders:

It is generally believed that the occurrence of hydatidiform mole is related to ovarian insufficiency or decline, and is more common in women under 20 years old and over 40 years old.

5. Infection factors:

If pregnant women do not pay much attention to dietary hygiene and personal hygiene, bacterial and viral infections are likely to occur. Clinically, some hydatidiform moles are caused by bacterial or viral infections.

Patients with hydatidiform mole should pay attention to personal hygiene, especially vulvar hygiene, and it is recommended to wash the vulva every day and change underwear and other personal clothes frequently.
